As a small business consultant for the last 10 years this is usually my client’s opening question. How can a consultant run my business better than me?
Do you have access to mailing lists directly related to your subject matter? Maybe you already have a small business selling information, or have access to a customer list of people who buy similar information.
What interests or hobbies have you been involved with that can make a lively income for you? If you follow the steps and carefully consider your market, there is no reason why you can’t get into the newsletter start a group home in maryland too.. And you can MAKE IT WORK.
Build relationships and trust. Be patient with your customers and clients and listen to them carefully. What are their problems and pains that they are trying to solve. Don’t presume to know what they want until they communicate it to you. Then you are in a much better position to do business with them.
You can’t be afraid to discover a hole. You do your best thinking, put together your best strategy, and realize errors after roll-out. That’s what happens in business. You can’t be afraid of finding a hole later on in the process.
On-The-Job Training – Work for someone else for a while. Roll up your sleeves and learn the business from the inside out. When scouting out potential “employer-trainers,” it’s best to look for one that is successful and well run. Don’t forget though, you can learn from a poorly run business. You learn what NOT to do, instead of what to do. This, however, can be frustrating. It is best to learn from successful people and businesses. Remember though, being an employee and being an owner have two sets of responsibilities.
Always talk with a business consultant about marketing and growth ideas for your company. Make sure you have in place progress points and can tie social marketing activities to some type of return. Like General Motors (GM) you can spend lots of time and money on marketing and advertising with no returns to show for your efforts.
